I was disappointed to learn that Mike Farrell (who publicly espoused
his love for his former wife) ended up marrying someone else (the star
of Coach?). What happened to the love? Why the divorce?

What happened to the love? Why the divorce?
Why would it be any of our business?

I'm not so sure...Mike Farrell chose to make his virtuous marriage
publicly know and no doubt his character's popularity benefited from
this. Therefore it does leave one wondering about his public
statements about a happy marriage.

Well, Mike and the Mrs brought it up in the first place; they should've kept
quiet if they didn't want public interest in their union.

I recall back during MASH's original run, Mike and Judy Farrell were on a bunch
of talk shows expounding on their wonderful, happy marriage, and giving tips to
others for same. They hyped their happiness so much the cynical among us were
taking bets on their divorce date back then.

Sometimes people just grow apart -- it is not necessarily anybody's
fault. It doesn't mean that they don't love each other.

We don't know the circimstances of why the marriage dissolved and as far
as I am concerned, they don't owe strangers such as us any explanation.
From what little I know, they made sure that the divorce was as amicable
as possible -- how many peole do that?

We, as a society, have reached the point where we think we need to know
everything about every celebrity out there -- we would be much better
off if we gave the same attention to our family and friends.

I will now step down from my soap box. :-))))

After they made their marriage so very public, Mary, I think they did in
a way owe the public an explanation.

After they made their marriage so very public, Mary, I think they did in
a way owe the public an explanation.
They made it publicly known they were in love and it's now publicly known
they're divorced. There's nothing wrong with publicly expressing love for
someone, but that doesn't mean any explanation is due if it doesn't work. Maybe
they just fell out of love. Happens all the time.
Why would you think they owe anyone an explanation for a private matter between
them? I can respect their decision not to air dirty laundry.

And what about Swit? After MASH ended, she married an actor who was in an
episode. He's now an ex-husband. Should she explain her actions as well?
Just because these people are in the public eye doesn't mean they have no
private life.
