Though he appeared as General Barker, I have a confession to make. I
enjoyed him most thouroughly as J.D.Hogg. The guy knew like 5
languages, was a trained actor...and to be able to let loose and
emerse himself in such a character entertains me no end. The
accent, the expressions...all these things made me a fan of him as
that character. I give a similar nod to Stiers for "his" accent.
Forget Brando yelling "STELLA", forget any of the so called "greats
of Hollywood" doing drama to their hearts content, I give my acting
awards to Sorrell Booke as JD Hogg and people like Peter Sellers as
Clouseau. Anybody can yell STELLA. I'll show you. I'm in a public
library right now and will yell Stella, real loud...just like Brando.
.............................................Ok, I'm back.
Uhmm...if you'll excuse me, there are some guys with badges headed my
way, I need to sign off.

Generally speaking, no one would give the actors who appear on such a silly
show any acclaim. But I have to agree with you -- Booke's Boss Hogg was an
excellent piece of acting.

It really was if you think about it. Mainly because it wasn't any of
the lines that were funny, just the way he said them. A comparison of
any of his other roles versus the HOGG one will show how much he put
into it. I honestly wish they'd made that show a half hour and gotten
rid of the car chases and such..and made it kind of a "Mayberry" gone
awry.

Back to Brando. I don't fancy method actors in the slightest. I don't
Alan Alda is one. Good for him if he isn't.

Sellers as Clouseau.
To get the real impact of Seller's genius, look for old copies of "The
Goon Show", the radio show he did with Spike Milligan and Harry Secombe.
Sellers literally plays dozens of characters every episode.
